  Esquif's "Canyon" canoe is worth its weight in gold!!! We were 27km from the end of a whitewater canoe trip when one of our canoes got wrapped around a boulder with the bow pinned against a rock wall. Extreme water pressure in the stern proceeded to crush the canoe and we thought we were up the creek without a canoe... (Or rather, in the wilderness with no way to get us and our gear out...) So, since we realized that at that point we had bought the canoe from the outfitter, we chopped off the deckplate and tip of the bow. Once freed, the canoe whipped around the rock and was sucked under the water. When it surfaced 20 meters downstream, we retrieved it before it got trapped in the next set of rapids. Then, to our utter amazement, within hours the canoe returned to its original shape. And, in the morning, after duct-taping the bow back together, we completed a final day of continual rapids and finished the adventure on schedule! The "Canyon" had a very low draw, was well balanced, and tracked well in the water. And despite strong winds, we never felt that we were being blown around. But the fact that I saw a totally crushed canoe return to almost its original shape, and then perform remarkably during a final day of constant rapids, just left me amazed!
